Entrepreneurial independence for women on probation

The organization INSADE supports people affected by violence or imprisonment. Using participatory methods, creative educational formats and close cooperation with local partners, INSADE creates pathways to social reintegration. The Foundation stands for inclusion, dignity and the conviction that everyone deserves a second chance, regardless of origin or life story.

Women in Mexico face massive obstacles after imprisonment: stigmatization, discrimination and lack of job opportunities make it difficult to start over. Many are left without prospects, which often leads to relapse. "Hecho en Libertad" addresses this issue with a holistic approach that strengthens self-confidence, builds economic competence and promotes community.

"Hecho en Libertad" supports women who have been imprisoned or are on probation in building a self-determined life. The goal is to overcome stigmatization, poverty and recidivism through entrepreneurial independence and the strengthening of personal initiative.
Each year, around 100 women take part in practical qualifications. They learn how to make handmade products such as cosmetics, baked goods, hot sauces and jewelry from recycled glass. In addition, the program teaches business management skills to implement their own business ideas, generate income and build financial stability.
After a successful pilot phase, the project is being expanded: Indigenous women in Yucatán and in the State of Mexico will also benefit from the offers in the future. The Lemonaid & ChariTea Foundation supports by financing training courses, material costs and fees for specialists and coordination.
