Germany

So far, we have been supporting a German organization dedicated to rescuing people in distress at sea in the central Mediterranean. In the future, we would like to support additional organizations working in this field.

Civilian maritime search and rescue in the central Mediterranean.

Lemonaid & ChariTea e.V. supports Sea-Watch e.V. by helping to fund the care of those rescued on board and aerial reconnaissance missions.

Germany is one of the most populous countries in Europe and one of the founding members of the European Union (EU). As the EU’s largest economy, Germany not only engages in brisk trade with other EU countries but is also an important trading partner for countries worldwide. Global trade linkages, as well as German history—particularly its colonial past—not only influence the current situation of countries in the Global South but also give rise to a historical responsibility that should be acknowledged.
To date, we at Lemonaid & ChariTea e. V. have primarily supported projects in the Global South. However, growing global inequalities are leading people to seek new opportunities outside their countries of origin. In 2025, approximately 117.3 million people worldwide were displaced. Of these, about 67.8 million were internally displaced persons who had been forced to flee within their own countries. The vast majority of refugees and migrants who find refuge outside their home countries are in nations of the Global South. Only a small proportion of people flee or migrate to industrialized nations such as Germany. The reasons why people leave their homelands are diverse and often closely intertwined. War, violence, persecution, and poverty are some of the factors that are closely linked to global inequalities, among other things, and drive people to flee.

Central Mediterranean.

At a time when more people than ever are being forced to flee their homes, while at the same time political and social discourse in Germany and around the world is becoming increasingly hostile toward people, we consider it all the more important to support organizations in Germany that advocate for people with refugee backgrounds and work toward successful integration. To date, we have supported a German organization dedicated to rescuing people in distress at sea in the central Mediterranean. In the future, we would like to support even more organizations in this field.

We are currently supporting a project in Germany.
